Contests

Rules of entry

The rules are governerned by the National body, and can be found on their website. On that site may be found the Contests page, where key information is issued by the Contest Manager. This is typically the set music, and where sheet music may be obtained from.

Note: The formal rules have yet to be set. The following is based on the pattern from previous years. It is a good guide, but not absolute.

Main divisions

Contests groups are divided onto Solo, Ensemble (2 - 5), Band and Special. There are also subgroups based on age in some of these.

Special Contests.

There are special contests most evenings. The Invitation Slow melody is typically the first. Next evening is likely to have the Junior and Open Champion of Champion contests. The A grade Bands will extend their contesting into another evening. Lastly, the Band of the Year is usually on the Sunday afternoon, and an ability to entertain is a requirement.
